Bike Chicago began as a one day rally and quickly expanded.  First to a week, then a month, then five months and now it’s a year-long celebration of the city of Chicago’s commitment to becoming more bicycle friendly and environmentally conscious.

This week, many activities are planned including the Bike to Work Rally on Friday, June 14th.  Join thousands of cyclists for free continental breakfast provided by 7-Eleven as well as live music at Daley Plaza downtown at 7am.  All cyclists will receive a free t-shirt as well as use of the complimentary Kickstart by Mountain Dew free bike valet.

Saturday, June 15th is the Make Way for People Bike Tour from 9:30a – 12p.  Participants will be led of one of two available tours that will visit a growing number of “People Places” which typically consist of landscaping, temporary seating, programming and other amenities to create public space.  Both tours will depart from the Pavilion and Millennium Park and culminate in Andersonville or Bronzeville.  At each “People Place” location, there will be activities including yoga stretches, jazz performances, food and a tour of the Little Black Pearl Arts Center.
